The INGERSOLL CUTTING TOOLS 5120051 is a replaceable drill tip designed for modular drilling systems in metal-cutting applications. Manufactured from solid carbide with a PVD-applied TiAlN/TiN dual coating, this tip delivers thermal resistance and wear performance suited to production drilling in steel. It measures 15.00 mm in cutting diameter with a 140-degree included point angle, a helical flute geometry, and a functional length of 0.2540 inches. Coolant-through capability allows cutting fluid to be delivered directly to the cutting edge, reducing heat buildup and improving chip evacuation in deep-hole and high-feed operations. It installs via a clamp-type holding method into a compatible TPA-series seat size 15 drill body.
This tip is intended for use in ferrous metal drilling, with a primary workpiece material designation of Steel (ISO material group P, grades P15 through P30). Typical applications include through-hole drilling, spot drilling, and coolant-through drilling in CNC machining centers and automated drilling stations. It conforms to ANSI standards and carries the ISO designation TPA1510R01 IN2505. The two-flute helical design with regular spiral promotes stable chip flow in steel at moderate to high cutting speeds. This tip is suited for shops running production volumes where insert-style tooling reduces downtime compared to solid regrindable drills.
Designed for use with TPA-series modular drill bodies requiring an insert seat size 15. ISO designation TPA1510R01 IN2505 identifies the exact seat and tip geometry. Confirm seat size and series compatibility with the drill body before installation.
Installation of replaceable drill tips should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician with the machine in a locked-out, de-energized state per applicable safety procedures. The seating surface and clamping pocket must be clean and free of chips or burrs before inserting the tip to ensure proper contact and concentricity. Use the manufacturer-recommended torque tool or clamp key for the TPA clamping mechanism and do not substitute improvised tools that could damage the seat or tip. Verify tip seating and runout before returning the spindle to operation.
