The INGERSOLL CUTTING TOOLS 5101246 is a replaceable drill tip designed for indexable drilling systems that accept TPA-series seat sizes. Built from solid carbide and coated with TiAlN and TiN via a PVD process, this tip delivers the wear resistance and heat tolerance required for productive steel drilling. It carries a 140-degree point angle and a standard point type, making it well suited for entry into flat and slightly curved surfaces. Coolant-through design channels fluid directly to the cutting edge, extending tool life and improving chip evacuation in deep-hole applications. This is a production-grade tip installed by machinists and toolroom technicians on CNC drilling and machining centers.
This replaceable drill tip is intended for drilling steel workpieces classified under ISO material group P, specifically grades P15 through P30. It fits applications including standard drilling, spot drilling, and coolant-through drilling operations. The helical flute geometry with regular spiral promotes consistent chip flow. The tip mounts via clamp-style insert holding and is dimensioned to seat size 20, making it compatible with TPA-series bodies designed for that seat. It conforms to ANSI standards and carries the ISO number TPA2060R01 IN2505.
Designed to fit TPA-series indexable drill bodies with insert seat size 20, conforming to ANSI standards. Compatible with ISO designation TPA2060R01 IN2505. Intended for use on steel workpieces in ISO material group P (P15 through P30).
Installation is performed by a machinist or toolroom technician on a CNC machining center or drilling machine. Power down and lock out the spindle before seating or removing the tip. Use the appropriate torx or hex key for the clamp screw as specified by the drill body manufacturer, and verify the tip is fully seated before starting the spindle. Confirm coolant-through supply is active and at the correct pressure for the drill body before beginning the cut.
