The INGERSOLL CUTTING TOOLS 3207688 is a 90-degree indexable spotting drill designed for precise spot-drilling and center-drilling operations in a wide range of workpiece materials. Built on the FAK series platform, this tool features a 0.842-inch drill diameter with a straight single-flute design and a Weldon Flat shank for secure, anti-rotation retention in the spindle. The overall length is 3.5 inches with a 0.75-inch shank diameter. It accepts one TFLT insert, size code 15T308, making insert changes fast and cost-effective. Right-hand cutting direction and an uncoated steel body keep this tool straightforward to spec and apply for general-purpose spotting work.
This spotting drill is suited for use on CNC machining centers and manual mills handling a broad spectrum of materials including steel, stainless, cast iron, aluminum, non-ferrous metals, and superalloys, consistent with the universal material compatibility codes listed for this tool. The 90-degree point angle produces a clean, accurate spot that guides twist drills and reduces walking without requiring a center drill. Maximum depth of cut is 0.200 inches, making it appropriate for spotting applications rather than full-depth drilling. This tool does not include through-spindle coolant capability, so flood or mist coolant delivery at the cutting zone is the standard approach.
Designed to accept one TFLT compatible insert in size code 15T308. Suitable for use on workpiece materials designated under universal material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S, covering hardened steels, cast irons, stainless steels, aluminum alloys, general steels, and superalloys.
Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC setup technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or changing the indexable insert. Secure the Weldon Flat shank in a compatible side-lock or set-screw holder to the appropriate retention torque per the holder manufacturer specification. Verify insert seating and screw torque before returning the tool to service. Flood or mist coolant is recommended at the cutting zone since this tool does not support through-coolant delivery.
