Product Description

The INGERSOLL CUTTING TOOLS 2901937 is a solid carbide milling insert with ANSI and ISO designation SDMS1305MDR-PH IN4030. It features a square shape with a 90-degree included angle, a positive rake geometry, and a 15-degree relief angle. The insert carries a PVD-applied TiAlN and AlCrO dual coating in manufacturer grade IN4030 with a coarse grain carbide substrate. Four cutting edges are available per insert, and the right-hand corner-rounded cutting edge style makes it suited for high-productivity face and shoulder milling operations in demanding materials. The chip breaker designation is PH. Thickness is 0.2000 inches and inscribed circle diameter is 0.5118 inches.

This insert is designed for milling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium, covering ISO material groups P, M, K, and S. It is used in industrial and production machining environments where high heat resistance and edge stability are required. The PH chip breaker geometry supports controlled chip formation across a range of feed rates and depths of cut. It is installed in compatible cutter bodies by machinists and CNC tooling technicians as part of a modular indexable tooling system.

Key Features

  • Solid carbide coarse grain substrate for toughness in interrupted and variable cuts
  • PVD-applied TiAlN and AlCrO dual coating for heat and wear resistance
  • Four usable cutting edges per insert for extended tool life per unit
  • Positive rake, 15-degree relief angle reduces cutting forces on the workpiece
  • Corner-rounded cutting edge style at 0.0295 inch corner radius minimizes edge chipping
  • PH chip breaker supports controlled chip evacuation in steel and stainless applications
  • Screw-held clamping method ensures secure seating in the cutter pocket

Compatibility

Compatible with INGERSOLL cutter series 15M1P and 5M5P. Conforms to ANSI designation SDMS1305MDR-PH K IN4030 and ISO designation SDMS1305MDR-PH IN4030. Insert size code is 1305.

Installation Notes

This insert is installed by machinists or CNC tooling technicians into compatible indexable milling cutter bodies. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the correct torx or hex key to the cutter body manufacturer's specified fastener procedure when securing the clamping screw. Inspect the cutter pocket seating surface for wear or debris before seating the insert to maintain runout accuracy.
