The IMPORT 20993 is a bridge-construction reamer designed for enlarging and finishing holes in structural steel and heavy fabrication applications. Built from high speed steel (HSS), it delivers the hardness and heat resistance required for reaming through thick plate and structural members. The 1/2-inch cutting diameter paired with a 1/2-inch Morse taper shank provides secure chuck engagement and accurate hole sizing. At 4.5 inches overall length, the tool reaches into recessed weld joints and flange connections common in bridge and ironwork construction. Three spiral flutes clear chips efficiently and help reduce chatter during the cut. Ironworkers, structural fabricators, and heavy equipment mechanics rely on this reamer for on-site and shop hole finishing.
This reamer is suited for structural steel fabrication, bridge construction, heavy equipment repair, and similar applications where bolt holes require precise final sizing after punching or rough drilling. The Morse taper shank is compatible with standard drill press spindles and portable magnetic drills equipped with a matching taper socket. The spiral flute geometry makes it particularly effective in through-hole reaming where chip evacuation is critical to finish quality and tool life.
Designed for use with drill presses and magnetic base drills fitted with a Morse taper spindle socket matching the 1/2-inch shank taper. Suitable as a standard bridge-construction reamer replacement in structural fabrication and ironwork applications.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists, ironworkers, or structural fabricators familiar with reaming operations. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and power is locked out before seating or removing the taper shank. Apply cutting fluid appropriate for the workpiece material to extend tool life and improve hole finish. Secure the workpiece firmly before operation to prevent movement that could damage the reamer or cause injury.
