The IGUS MFI-0406-06 is a flanged sleeve bearing manufactured from M250 thermoplastic material, designed for light-load rotary and linear shaft applications where self-lubrication eliminates the need for external grease or oil. The bearing features a 1/4 inch inside diameter, 3/8 inch outside diameter, and 3/8 inch overall length, with a flange outside diameter of 0.56 inches and a flange thickness of 0.047 inches. Rated to a maximum pressure times velocity (PV) value of 9800 psi, this bearing is suited for moderate-duty cycles in dry or contaminated environments where conventional lubricated bearings would fail prematurely. Mechanical technicians, maintenance professionals, and OEM assembly teams are the primary installers.
This bearing is appropriate for use in light industrial machinery, conveyor systems, packaging equipment, agricultural implements, and general mechanical assemblies where a compact, corrosion-resistant, self-lubricating plain bore bushing is required. The thermoplastic construction makes it well suited for applications involving exposure to moisture, dust, or mild chemicals where metal bearings would corrode. The flanged design provides axial retention without additional hardware, simplifying installation in both new builds and field replacements. Housing bore limits of 0.3760 to 0.3765 inches must be maintained for correct press fit.
Designed for use in assemblies requiring a 1/4 inch bore plain sleeve bearing with a 3/8 inch OD press fit into a housing bore between 0.3760 and 0.3765 inches. Part of the IGUS M250 series flanged sleeve bearing line.
Installation is typically performed by mechanical technicians or maintenance personnel. Power down and de-energize all rotating equipment before removing or installing bearings. Press the bearing into the housing bore using an arbor press or appropriately sized driver to avoid cocking the flange; do not hammer directly on the bearing face. Verify housing bore dimensions fall within the specified 0.3760 to 0.3765 inch range before installation to ensure proper retention.
