The INTERNATIONAL COMFORT PRODUCTS evd5x60m21a is a cased, 5-ton (60,000 BTU/h) V-coil evaporator coil engineered for upflow and downflow installations using R-454B (A2L) refrigerant. The coil ships with a complete A2L dissipation system required for compliant installation. Sweat connections are factory-provided for leak-free line connections, and all models include enough straight tube length to accommodate braze-less compression fittings. The corrosion-resistant drain pan is constructed from polybutylene terephthalate (PBT), sloped for positive drainage, and includes three water-tight drain plugs to seal unused drain ports. The coil body meets or exceeds a burst pressure of 2,100 psi, at least three times the maximum expected operating pressure in typical cooling or heating service.
This cased evaporator coil is suited for residential and light-commercial split-system applications where upflow or downflow air handler orientation is required. The 21-inch cabinet width fits standard air handler configurations. Lineset connections are positioned to allow full removal of the access door, providing clear access to the coil surface and the TXV for routine service and cleaning. After the door is removed and refrigerant lines are disconnected, the coil assembly pulls from the front of the cabinet without tools, simplifying coil replacement and inspection in tight equipment rooms or utility spaces.
Designed as an OEM-style cased evaporator coil for upflow and downflow split-system air handlers compatible with R-454B refrigerant in residential and light-commercial applications.
Installation must be performed by a licensed HVAC technician familiar with A2L refrigerant handling requirements; local codes and manufacturer guidelines govern ventilation and leak detection provisions for A2L systems. Disconnect and lock out all electrical power to the air handler before beginning coil installation or replacement. Follow applicable mechanical codes (such as the IMC) for drain pan piping and condensate disposal. Braze connections must be made with nitrogen flowing through the coil to prevent oxidation scaling inside the tubing.
