The ICM CONTROLS 284 is a fixed speed furnace control module designed as a direct wire-for-wire replacement for popular OEM furnace control boards. Operating at 208 VAC at 60 Hz, it manages ignition sequencing, blower motor staging, inducer motor control, and gas valve operation in a single integrated module. The 284 includes a 100% gas shutoff safety feature triggered on ignition failure, a critical safeguard that protects both equipment and occupants. Licensed HVAC technicians install this module as a cost-effective alternative to sourcing original manufacturer control boards.
This control module is suited for residential gas furnace applications where a fixed speed blower configuration is used. It supports cooling blower loads up to 30 amps at 2 HP and 240 VAC, heating blower loads up to 10 amps at 1/2 HP and 250 VAC, and an inducer motor load of 4 amps at 208 VAC. The low-voltage gas valve output is rated at 4 amps at 24 VAC, and the compressor output handles 5 amps resistive at 24 VAC, covering typical split-system cooling integration.
Designed as an OEM-style wire-for-wire replacement for fixed speed residential gas furnace control boards across many popular OEM models.
Installation should be performed by a licensed HVAC technician. Always disconnect power at the breaker and confirm the system is de-energized before removing or installing any control board. Follow the existing wiring layout and use the wire-for-wire replacement approach to maintain correct terminal assignments. Consult applicable local mechanical and electrical codes, including IFGC and NEC guidelines, before completing the installation.
