The HUBBELL NM BOX 2G is a nonmetallic old-work electrical box designed for two-gang device installations in existing wall assemblies. Old-work boxes are used when wiring is being added or modified after drywall or plaster is already in place, eliminating the need to access wall cavities from the stud side. This box accepts standard two-gang wallplates and devices including duplex receptacles, switches, and combination devices. Licensed electricians install this type of box during renovation and retrofit electrical work in residential and light commercial settings.
The NM BOX 2G is suited for retrofit wiring projects where nonmetallic sheathed cable is the wiring method. It is appropriate for use in dry, interior wall installations where old-work mounting is required. The two-gang configuration accommodates side-by-side device installations, making it a common choice for locations that require multiple receptacles or switches at a single point. It installs through a cutout in the finished wall surface without requiring stud access.
Designed as an OEM-style old-work replacement and retrofit box for two-gang nonmetallic sheathed cable installations in residential and light commercial interior wall applications.
Installation is performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC). Always de-energize the circuit at the breaker panel and verify the absence of voltage with a meter before beginning work. The box is secured to the finished wall surface using the integrated mounting ears or clamps that bear against the inside of the drywall. Do not install in wet or damp locations unless the box and devices are rated for such environments.
