The HUBBELL WIRING DEVICE-KELLEMS HBL2431SW is an industrial-grade locking plug rated for 480 volts and 20 amps in a 3-phase, 4-wire configuration following the NEMA L16-20P standard. Built from thermoplastic elastomer, it delivers impact resistance and flexibility in demanding field environments. The self-grounding design simplifies termination and reduces installation error. Rated IP66, the HBL2431SW is watertight and dust-tight, making it suitable for outdoor, wet-location, and washdown service applications. Licensed electricians and industrial maintenance technicians are the primary installers. It ships in a single-unit package and meets CSA, UL, and NEMA 4/4X/12 standards.
This plug is intended for heavy industrial and commercial electrical installations where 3-phase 480-volt power distribution is required. Typical applications include temporary power distribution on construction sites, industrial machinery connections, generator hookups, and portable power applications. The L16-20P configuration is common in manufacturing facilities, event power setups, and anywhere a twist-lock 480-volt 20-amp 3-phase connection is specified. The cord grip accommodates cord diameters from 0.35 inches to 1.15 inches, covering a wide range of multi-conductor cord sizes used in industrial wiring.
Designed for use with NEMA L16-20R locking receptacles and inlets in 480-volt 3-phase 20-amp industrial wiring systems. Compatible with multi-conductor cords ranging from 0.35 inches to 1.15 inches in diameter.
Installation should be performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and applicable local codes. De-energize and lock out the circuit before terminating conductors. Verify cord diameter falls within the accepted grip range before assembly. Do not use this plug on circuits exceeding 480 volts or 20 amps, and do not substitute it for single-phase configurations.
