The HUBBELL GFWRST15 is a self-testing ground fault circuit interrupter (GFCI) receptacle rated at 15 amps for use in residential and light commercial electrical installations. Unlike standard GFCI outlets that require manual testing, this unit performs automatic self-diagnostic checks at regular intervals to confirm the ground fault protection circuit is functioning. If the device detects a fault condition or a failed self-test, it locks out power to prevent use of an unprotected outlet. Licensed electricians install this receptacle as a code-compliant replacement or new installation in locations where GFCI protection is required by the NEC.
This receptacle is suited for wet or damp location applications including bathrooms, kitchens, garages, crawl spaces, unfinished basements, and outdoor installations where ground fault protection is mandated by the National Electrical Code. The self-test function makes it appropriate for installations where periodic manual testing is unlikely, such as rarely accessed utility areas or commercial kitchens.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation GFCI receptacle for standard 15 amp residential and light commercial electrical branch circuits requiring ground fault protection.
Installation should be performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and applicable local codes. De-energize the circuit at the breaker panel and verify absence of voltage with a meter before beginning work. Follow the line and load terminal labeling on the device; incorrect wiring of line versus load terminals will result in improper protection. Where used for downstream protection of additional outlets, connect downstream conductors to the load terminals only.
