The HOUGEN 18126 is a carbide-tipped annular cutter designed for fast, clean through-hole cutting in metal fabrication and structural steel work. With a 13/16-inch cutting diameter and a 1-inch depth of cut, this cutter removes a core slug rather than reducing the full bore to chips, which reduces heat buildup and extends tool life compared to twist drills. The 3/4-inch shank diameter features two flats for positive drive engagement in compatible magnetic drill press chucks. An oxide straw finish provides a base level of surface protection. Weighing 0.5 pounds, it is a compact, job-site-ready tool for ironworkers, fabricators, and maintenance mechanics.
This cutter is suited for use on mild steel, stainless steel, aluminum, and general structural steel applications. It is designed for use with magnetic drill presses and drill press setups that accept a 3/4-inch two-flat shank. Typical applications include structural steel framing, pipe fitting, plate fabrication, and on-site hole cutting where a magnetic drill press is deployed. The 1-inch depth of cut handles standard plate and structural member thicknesses encountered in most field and shop fabrication scenarios.
Designed for use with magnetic drill presses and drill stands accepting a 3/4-inch two-flat annular cutter shank. Compatible material applications include aluminum, mild steel, stainless steel, and general steel stock.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified metalworkers or fabricators familiar with magnetic drill press operation. Secure the magnetic drill base fully to the workpiece before beginning the cut, and verify the workpiece is free of coatings or contaminants that could affect magnetic hold. Use appropriate cutting fluid or coolant for the material being drilled, particularly when cutting stainless steel, to prevent premature carbide edge wear. Always wear appropriate PPE including eye protection when operating rotary cutting tools.
