The HOUGEN 12314 is a high speed steel annular cutter designed for clean, fast hole cutting in ferrous materials. With a cutter diameter of 0.5512 inches (14.00 mm) and a cutting depth of 25.00 mm, this cutter removes only a core of material rather than reducing the full hole to chips, reducing cutting force and heat buildup. The 3/4 inch Weldon flat shank with two flats provides positive drive engagement and prevents slippage under load. The bright, uncoated finish is standard for general-purpose HSS annular cutters used in metalworking and fabrication applications. Licensed tradespeople and fabricators working on structural steel, mechanical assemblies, or sheet metal typically reach for this cutter for consistent, burr-free results.
This annular cutter is suited for use in magnetic drill presses and drill stands equipped with a 3/4 inch Weldon-compatible chuck or arbor. It is rated for cutting mild steel and general steel stock. The 25.00 mm cutting depth makes it appropriate for through-holes in standard structural sections and plate. Applications include field ironwork, mechanical room fabrication, and shop work where a clean, full-diameter hole is required without a pilot drill in some setups. It is sized for light to medium fabrication tasks common in HVAC, plumbing rough-in, and structural trades.
Designed for use in magnetic drill presses and drill stands fitted with a 3/4 inch Weldon-style arbor or chuck. Rated for material applications including mild steel and general steel stock.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified metalworkers, pipefitters, or tradespeople familiar with magnetic drill press operation. Ensure the magnetic drill base is fully seated and energized on a clean, flat steel surface before engaging the cutter. Confirm the Weldon shank is fully seated and all set screws are tightened against the flats before applying power. Use appropriate cutting fluid for extended cutter life and to manage heat in the workpiece.
