The HOUGEN 11214 is a high speed steel (HSS) annular cutter designed for cutting precise, clean holes in metal workpieces without removing the full core of material. Built from M2 grade high speed steel with a bright, uncoated finish, it measures 0.5512 inches in diameter with a 1/4-inch depth of cut and a 3/8-inch shank diameter. Annular cutters remove only a thin ring of material, significantly reducing cutting force and heat buildup compared to twist drills. This cutter is used by fabricators, ironworkers, pipefitters, and structural steel tradespeople working with magnetic base drills or compatible drill press setups.
The HOUGEN 11214 is suited for use in steel fabrication shops, job sites, and maintenance environments where accurate hole cutting in ferrous and stainless materials is required. Its compact 1/4-inch depth of cut makes it well matched to sheet stock and thin-wall structural members. The 3/8-inch shank provides a secure connection to compatible annular cutter arbors and magnetic drill press chucks. Typical applications include bolt-hole layout, structural connections, and panel penetrations in light to medium steel fabrication work.
Designed for use with magnetic base drills and drill press arbors accepting a 3/8-inch shank annular cutter. Rated for material applications including mild steel, stainless steel, and hardened steel.
Annular cutters of this type are installed by fabricators and ironworkers using magnetic base drills or drill press setups with an appropriate arbor. Secure the shank firmly in the arbor chuck and confirm the pilot pin is properly seated before operation. Always clamp or magnetically secure the workpiece and power down the drill before changing cutters. Use cutting oil or a suitable metalworking lubricant to extend cutter life and reduce heat, particularly when cutting stainless or hardened steel.
