The HORN RU116006208TN35 is a solid carbide grooving insert designed for precision external grooving and parting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Manufactured to Grade TN35, this right-hand insert delivers consistent cutting performance across a broad range of workpiece materials. It features a 0.062-inch cutting width and a 0.008-inch corner radius, making it well suited for narrow groove applications where dimensional accuracy is critical. The screw-clamping holding method ensures secure seating in compatible U116 series toolholders. Machinists and CNC operators in production and job-shop environments install and index this insert as part of routine tooling maintenance.
This insert is part of the Series U116 product family and is rated for universal workpiece material compatibility, covering cast iron, stainless steel, non-ferrous metals, carbon and alloy steels, and superalloys. It is appropriate for both light-production and high-volume turning operations where repeatable groove geometry is required. The right-hand configuration suits standard lathe setups where the tool approaches the workpiece from the operator side. Applications include snap-ring groove cutting, undercut machining, and part-off operations on small-diameter workpieces.
Designed for use with HORN Series U116 toolholders. Suitable for universal workpiece material codes K, M, N, P, and S as designated by the supplier, covering cast iron, stainless steel, non-ferrous materials, carbon and alloy steels, and high-temperature superalloys.
Installation is performed by CNC machinists and toolroom technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the manufacturer-specified torque wrench and clamping screw to seat the insert fully in the pocket - do not overtighten by hand. Inspect the toolholder pocket for chips or debris before seating a new insert to ensure proper contact and prevent premature edge failure.
