The HORN RU1140094108TN35 is a solid carbide grooving insert designed for precision parting and grooving operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Built to the U114 series standard, this right-hand insert features a 0.094-inch cutting width and a 0.008-inch corner radius, making it well suited for narrow groove profiles requiring tight dimensional control. At 0.622 inches overall length, the insert seats securely via screw-clamping in compatible U114 toolholders. The TN35 grade designation indicates a carbide substrate formulated for a broad range of workpiece materials. Machinists and CNC operators working in production or maintenance environments are the typical end users.
This insert is intended for grooving, parting, and recessing applications across a universal range of workpiece material classes. The primary workpiece material codes K, M, N, P, and S cover cast iron, stainless steel, non-ferrous materials, steel, and heat-resistant superalloys respectively, giving this insert wide application flexibility. It is commonly installed in gang tooling setups, Swiss-style lathes, or conventional CNC turning centers where the U114 toolholder system is already in use.
Designed for use in U114 series toolholders that accept screw-clamped grooving inserts with the RU1140094108 insert size code. Compatible with workpiece material classes K, M, N, P, and S as designated by the manufacturer.
Insert installation and replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician with the machine in a safe, powered-down or E-stopped state and the spindle fully stopped. Use the correct torx or hex key specified for the U114 clamping screw to seat the insert without overtightening, which can fracture the carbide substrate. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping screw for wear or debris before seating a new insert. Verify correct insert orientation and hand before resuming cutting operations.
