The HORN RU111009408TN35 is a solid carbide grooving insert designed for precision external grooving and parting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Built to Series U111 specifications, it features a 0.094 inch cutting width and a maximum depth of cut of 0.091 inches, making it well suited for narrow groove profiles in a variety of workpiece materials. The insert carries the TN35 manufacturer grade with a TiN coating finish, providing a hard, wear-resistant surface layer that supports performance across universal material groups. Screw-type clamping holds the insert securely in the toolholder. Installation and operation are handled by qualified CNC machinists and turning specialists.
The RU111009408TN35 is intended for use in external grooving applications across a broad range of workpiece material categories including steel, stainless steel, aluminum and non-ferrous alloys, high-temperature alloys, and cast iron, corresponding to material codes K, M, N, P, and S. The right-hand orientation and positive rake geometry suit common OD grooving setups on production and job-shop turning equipment. This insert is sold individually and is part of the U111 series, which uses a screw-clamping toolholder interface.
Designed for use with HORN Series U111 screw-clamping toolholders. Compatible with workpiece material codes K, M, N, P, and S, covering cast iron, stainless steel, aluminum and non-ferrous, steel, and high-temperature alloys. Consult the U111 series toolholder documentation to confirm the correct pocket and clamping screw specifications before ordering.
Insert replacement on CNC turning equipment should be performed with the machine in a full stop condition and all spindle rotation confirmed off before accessing the turret. Use the manufacturer-specified torx or hex key to seat the clamping screw to the toolholder specification. Inspect the insert pocket for chips or debris before seating the new insert. Proper insert orientation must be confirmed before resuming cutting operations.
