The HORN RU111009400TN35 is a solid carbide grooving insert designed for precision external grooving and parting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. This right-hand insert belongs to the Series U111 tooling system and features a 0.094 inch cutting width with a maximum depth of cut of 0.091 inches. Grade TN35 carbide construction delivers consistent edge performance across a broad range of workpiece materials. The screw-clamping holding method provides secure, repeatable seating in compatible U111 toolholders. Machinists and CNC operators working in production or job-shop environments will find this insert suited for tight-tolerance groove work.
The RU111009400TN35 is rated for universal application across multiple workpiece material classes, including cast iron, stainless steel, non-ferrous metals, carbon and alloy steels, and high-temperature superalloys, corresponding to ISO material codes K, M, N, P, and S. This makes it a practical choice for shops running mixed-material production runs. Typical applications include external groove turning, face grooving, and parting on small to mid-size diameter components. The overall insert length of 0.421 inches fits within the compact footprint of the U111 system.
Designed for use with HORN Series U111 toolholders and grooving systems that accept the U111 insert style with screw clamping. Compatible workpiece material classes include cast iron (K), stainless steel (M), non-ferrous (N), steel (P), and superalloys (S) per ISO designation.
Insert installation and replacement should be performed by a qualified CNC machinist or toolroom technician with the machine spindle fully stopped and the machine in a locked-out state per applicable safety procedures. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key driver as specified by the U111 toolholder manufacturer to seat the clamping screw. Inspect the insert pocket and screw threads for chips or debris before seating a new insert. Do not exceed the maximum depth of cut for this insert grade and geometry.
