The HORN RU111001531TN35 is a solid carbide grooving insert designed for precision grooving and parting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Built to the Series U111 specification, this right-hand insert delivers a cutting width of 0.031 inches and an overall length of 0.421 inches. The TN35 grade carbide substrate is engineered for broad material compatibility, covering cast iron, non-ferrous metals, steel, and superalloys. Screw-clamped mounting provides positive insert retention and repeatable positioning at changeover. This insert is used by machinists and tool-and-die professionals in production turning environments where dimensional accuracy in grooving operations is critical.
The RU111001531TN35 is suited for external grooving applications in both production and job-shop turning environments. Its universal workpiece material designation makes it a practical choice across a wide range of materials including steel, stainless, cast iron, non-ferrous alloys, and high-temperature alloys. The 0.015 inch corner radius contributes to controlled chip formation and surface finish consistency. It installs into compatible Series U111 grooving toolholders designed for screw-clamping systems.
Designed for use with Series U111 grooving toolholders that accept screw-clamped inserts. Compatible with workpiece materials designated by codes K, M, N, P, and S, covering cast iron, stainless steel, non-ferrous metals, steel, and superalloys.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist with the machine fully stopped, locked out, and the spindle secured before insert changeover. Use the appropriate torx or hex key driver specified by the toolholder manufacturer to seat the clamping screw to the correct snug fit without stripping the thread. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before installing the new insert. Confirm cutting direction and overhang are correct for the programmed grooving pass before resuming operation.
