The HORN R111185502TN35 is a solid carbide boring insert designed for precision internal turning and boring operations on CNC and manual lathes. Coated with Titanium Nitride (TiN), it carries a manufacturer grade of TN35 and is engineered for consistent performance across a wide range of workpiece materials. The insert features a 0.20 mm corner radius, a positive rake angle of 8 degrees, and an 18-degree relief angle, making it well suited for light-to-medium cutting depths in demanding machining environments. It is held in place by a screw-type clamping mechanism and is designed for right-hand cutting direction. Licensed machinists and CNC operators install this insert as part of a boring bar or cartridge tooling system.
This insert is intended for universal application across multiple workpiece material categories, including cast iron (K), stainless steel (M), non-ferrous materials (N), steel (P), and heat-resistant superalloys (S). It fits tooling systems in the HORN R111 series and is appropriate for both production and job-shop environments where repeatable bore quality is required. Maximum depth of cut is 0.051 inches. The insert conforms to DIN 509 standards and is packaged individually, with a minimum order quantity of 10 units.
Designed for use with HORN R111 series boring bars and compatible screw-clamp insert cartridges accepting the R111 insert style with size code 1855.02.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the control is in an e-stop or locked-out state before changing inserts. Use the correct torx or hex key to tighten the clamp screw to the toolholder manufacturer's specified torque range. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before seating the new insert.
