The HORN R105471934TN35 is a solid carbide turning insert designed for precision external and internal turning operations on CNC and conventional lathes. Manufactured in the TN35 grade, this round-profile insert carries the R105 insert style designation and measures 1.378 inches in length with a 0.006-inch corner radius. The TN35 carbide grade is suited for high-speed cutting and delivers consistent edge life across a range of workpiece materials. Licensed machinists and CNC operators working in production and job-shop environments are the primary users of this insert.
This insert is intended for use on turning centers and lathes where close-tolerance material removal is required. The round insert shape (Shape Code R) and 0.006-inch corner radius make it well-suited for profiling and finishing passes. Primary workpiece material codes K, M, N, P, and S indicate compatibility with cast iron, stainless steel, non-ferrous metals, carbon and alloy steels, and heat-resistant superalloys. A maximum depth of cut of 0.012 inches positions this insert for light finishing and semi-finishing cuts where surface finish and dimensional accuracy are critical.
Designed for use in R105-style toolholders that accept the 4719 insert size code with a 0.114-inch mounting hole diameter. Compatible workpiece material codes include K (cast iron), M (stainless steel), N (non-ferrous), P (carbon and alloy steel), and S (heat-resistant superalloys) as specified in the product data.
Installation should be performed by qualified machinists following the toolholder manufacturer's seating and torque procedures for positive-lock carbide inserts. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the toolholder is removed from the turret before replacing inserts. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping screw for wear or debris before seating the new insert. Follow applicable shop safety protocols and machine guarding requirements during changeover.
