The HONEYWELL P3001-215 is a Proflex shielded coupling designed for joining dissimilar pipe materials in drain, waste, and vent (DWV) systems. It consists of an elastomeric sleeve wrapped with a stainless steel shield, providing a secure, leak-resistant connection without requiring solvents, threading, or open flame. The coupling transitions a 2-inch pipe to a 1-1/2-inch pipe and is rated for use with cast-iron, Schedule 40 plastic, and steel pipe connecting to copper DWV pipe. At 0.5 pounds, it is lightweight enough for single-technician handling in tight overhead or in-wall installations.
This coupling is used in residential and light commercial plumbing applications where pipe material changes occur at fixture drains, trap arms, stack connections, or horizontal branch lines. It is well suited for repair and retrofit work where cutting in a no-hub fitting or soldering a transition is impractical. Plumbers working on multi-material drain systems or older cast-iron stacks transitioning to copper or plastic sections will find this fitting directly applicable to those scenarios.
Designed for joining cast-iron, Schedule 40 plastic, and steel pipe to copper DWV pipe in 2-inch to 1-1/2-inch transitions, as specified by the manufacturer.
Installation is performed by licensed plumbers following applicable IPC or local plumbing code requirements. Shut off water supply and ensure the drain system is depressurized and empty before beginning work. Pipe ends should be clean, deburred, and free of scale or debris before seating the elastomeric sleeve. Tighten the stainless steel shield clamps evenly to manufacturer torque guidance printed on the fitting packaging — do not overtighten, as this can distort the sleeve and compromise the seal.
