The HOLO-KROME 78080 is a hex socket cap screw designed for secure, high-strength fastening in mechanical, industrial, and trade applications. It features a 5/16-18 UNC thread size with a 1 inch length under head and is fully threaded from the bearing surface to the tip. The 1/4 inch hex drive accepts standard Allen keys and hex bit drivers. Manufactured from 18-8 stainless steel with a bright uncoated finish, it delivers corrosion resistance suitable for wet, outdoor, and chemically exposed environments. This fastener meets ASME B18.3 and ASTM F837 standards, making it appropriate for precision assemblies where dimensional consistency and material traceability are required.
The HOLO-KROME 78080 suits a wide range of installation scenarios including equipment mounting, pump and valve assembly, HVAC component fastening, electrical enclosure work, and general mechanical fabrication. The fully threaded design allows engagement along the entire shank, which is particularly useful in thin-material applications or when maximum thread engagement in a tapped hole is needed. Licensed tradespeople and fabricators working with stainless hardware assemblies will find this fastener appropriate for both structural and non-structural connections in corrosive or moisture-prone environments.
Designed as a standard 5/16-18 UNC hex socket cap screw compatible with any tapped hole or threaded insert conforming to UNC 5/16-18 specifications per ASME B18.3.
Installation is performed using a 1/4 inch hex key or Allen-drive bit. Ensure the mating tapped hole is clean and free of debris before seating the fastener. Stainless steel fasteners are susceptible to galling under high-speed or dry installation conditions — apply an appropriate anti-seize compound when torquing into stainless or aluminum threads. Follow applicable mechanical codes and equipment manufacturer torque specifications for the assembly being serviced.
