The HOLO-KROME 76282 is a metric hex socket cap screw designed for high-strength mechanical fastening applications. It features an M8 x 1.25 thread profile and a 100 mm (approximately 3.94 inches) length under the head with partial threading along the shank. Manufactured from alloy steel to material grade 12.9, this fastener delivers high tensile strength suited for demanding structural and mechanical assemblies. A black oxide coating provides moderate corrosion resistance and reduces surface reflectivity. The internal hex drive requires a standard hex key or Allen driver for installation, allowing torque to be applied in tight clearances where a wrench cannot reach.
This cap screw is commonly used in industrial machinery, hydraulic components, jig and fixture assemblies, and precision mechanical equipment where high-strength, close-tolerance fastening is required. The partial thread design allows the unthreaded shank to act as a shoulder, resisting shear loads in bolted joints. Mechanical technicians, millwrights, and industrial maintenance professionals typically specify grade 12.9 hardware for applications where a standard grade 8 or 10.9 fastener would be undersized for the load requirements.
Designed as a DIN 912 and ISO 4762 compliant metric socket cap screw suitable for M8 tapped holes with a 1.25 mm thread pitch in standard metric fastener applications.
Installation should be performed by qualified mechanical or industrial maintenance personnel using a properly sized metric hex key or socket driver. Always verify the tapped hole thread class and depth before installation to avoid cross-threading or bottoming out. Torque the fastener according to the grade 12.9 specification torque tables for M8 fasteners as published by the fastener manufacturer or relevant engineering standards. Avoid impact driving, which can damage the socket recess or exceed the proof load of the fastener.
