The HOLO-KROME 76188 is a metric hex socket cap screw designed for high-strength fastening applications across industrial, mechanical, and trade assembly work. Manufactured from alloy steel at a material grade of 12.9, this screw delivers exceptional tensile and proof load capacity suited to demanding clamping and structural connections. The fastener features a black oxide finish for moderate corrosion resistance and a reduced-glare appearance. With a thread size of M6 x 1.00 and a length under head of 40 millimeters, this partially threaded screw is driven by a standard hex (Allen) socket tool. Licensed mechanics, millwrights, pipefitters, and maintenance technicians are the primary installers.
The 76188 is intended for use in precision-fit assemblies where high clamp load and consistent torque are required. Partial threading allows the unthreaded shank to act as a close-tolerance locating feature in clearance-drilled holes, making it suitable for machine frames, fixture plates, hydraulic component mounting, and similar industrial applications. This screw conforms to ANSI B1.13M, DIN 912, ISO 4762, and ISO 898-1 standards, making it appropriate for both domestic and internationally specified assemblies.
Designed as a standard DIN 912 and ISO 4762 metric hex socket cap screw, the 76188 is compatible with any M6 x 1.00 tapped hole or threaded insert meeting those specifications. Consult the relevant torque and grade tables for the mating assembly when substituting fastener grades.
Installation should be performed by qualified mechanics or maintenance technicians using a calibrated torque wrench and the appropriate metric hex key or socket bit sized for M6 cap screws. Ensure the mating threaded hole or insert is clean and free of debris before driving the fastener. De-energize, depressurize, or lock out any equipment per applicable OSHA lockout-tagout procedures before fastener replacement or removal. Do not exceed the rated torque for Grade 12.9 fasteners as specified by the equipment manufacturer or applicable engineering standards.
