The HOLO-KROME 72414 is a hex socket cap screw designed for high-strength bolted assemblies requiring a clean, recessed drive profile. It carries a 1-1/4-7 UNC thread form and measures 6-1/2 inches in length under the head. The 7/8-inch internal hex drive accepts a standard Allen-type key or socket bit. The fastener is partially threaded, leaving a smooth shank section that improves shear resistance in structural and mechanical applications. Manufactured from alloy steel with a black oxide finish, it is built to handle heavy clamping loads in demanding industrial and trade environments. Licensed mechanical contractors, millwrights, and industrial maintenance technicians are the primary installers.
This screw suits applications where a low-profile fastener head and high tensile strength are both required. Typical uses include machinery frames, heavy equipment assemblies, structural brackets, and fabricated steel components. The partially threaded shank is well suited for through-bolt applications where the shank spans a joint interface and full threading is not needed or desired. The black oxide coating provides mild corrosion resistance and reduces galling during installation. It is appropriate for indoor and light-duty outdoor mechanical assemblies where a higher-grade fastener is specified.
Designed as an OEM-style and aftermarket replacement hex socket cap screw for heavy mechanical assemblies specifying a 1-1/4-7 UNC partially threaded fastener per ASME B18.3 and ASTM A574.
Installation should be performed by a qualified mechanic or millwright following applicable torque specifications from the equipment manufacturer or relevant ASME standards. Always verify thread engagement and ensure the receiving hole is clean and free of debris before driving the fastener. Use a properly sized 7/8-inch hex key or socket to avoid rounding the drive recess. De-energize and lock out all equipment before accessing fastener locations on live machinery.
