The HOLO-KROME 72134 is a hex socket cap screw designed for high-strength fastening applications in mechanical, industrial, and trade assembly work. It features a 5/16-18 UNC thread size with a 1-3/4 inch length under head and is partially threaded, providing a firm clamp zone in the unthreaded shank area. The screw is machined from alloy steel and finished with a black oxide coating that offers mild corrosion resistance and reduces light reflection in service environments. Drive engagement is via a 1/4 inch internal hex socket, requiring a standard Allen key or hex bit driver. This fastener is manufactured to ASME B18.3 and ASTM A574 standards.
This cap screw is suited for mechanical assemblies, equipment fabrication, machine frames, and structural fastening tasks where a recessed-drive, high-tensile fastener is required. The partially threaded shank makes it appropriate for applications requiring precise thread engagement depth or shear resistance across a joint. It is commonly installed by machinists, millwrights, mechanical contractors, and maintenance technicians working on industrial equipment, HVAC structural components, and general trade assemblies.
Designed as a standard 5/16-18 UNC hex socket cap screw conforming to ASME B18.3, suitable for use in any tapped hole or nut meeting that thread specification in mechanical and industrial assemblies.
Install using a properly sized 1/4 inch hex key or hex bit driver to avoid rounding the socket. Verify the receiving tapped hole thread class and depth before installation to ensure full engagement. Apply appropriate thread lubricant or thread-locking compound per the equipment manufacturer or job specification. Follow applicable mechanical codes and torque guidelines for 5/16-18 alloy steel fasteners as specified by the design engineer or equipment service documentation.
