The HOLO-KROME 08148 is a hex socket shoulder screw machined from Grade 8 alloy steel, designed for precise locating, pivoting, and bearing-retention applications in mechanical assemblies. The shoulder diameter measures 0.75 inches with a shoulder length of 5.5 inches, providing an extended bearing surface for bushings, bearings, or linkage components that require a controlled-diameter shaft. The threaded portion is 5/8-11 UNC with a thread length of 0.875 inches. A rounded head with a 1-inch diameter and 0.5-inch head height accepts a 3/8-inch hex key drive. The uncoated finish maintains dimensional tolerance for tight-fit applications. Licensed HVAC techs, millwrights, and mechanical contractors install this type of fastener during assembly of fixtures, jigs, and mechanical linkages.
This shoulder screw is suited for industrial and commercial mechanical assembly work where a precisely ground shoulder diameter is required to locate or retain a rotating or sliding component. Typical applications include pivot points in linkage assemblies, bushing retention in fabricated fixtures, and guide-pin functions in tooling and machinery. The extended 5.5-inch shoulder length accommodates thicker material stacks or multi-layer assemblies. It conforms to ASME B18.3 socket screw dimensional standards and ASME B1.1 thread standards, making it a specification-grade fastener for engineered assemblies.
Designed as an OEM-style and specification-grade replacement shoulder screw for mechanical assemblies requiring a 3/4-inch shoulder diameter, 5/8-11 UNC thread, and Grade 8 alloy steel construction per ASME B18.3.
Installation is performed by machinists, millwrights, or mechanical technicians using a 3/8-inch hex key or hex bit driver. De-energize and lock out all power to the assembly before removing or installing fasteners. Apply only hand or calibrated torque tools rated for the fastener grade — do not use impact drivers that may over-torque the threaded engagement. Verify the mating bore diameter and thread engagement depth meet engineering specifications before final assembly.
