The HOLDRITE 406-R is a fire retardant plastic insert designed to protect and isolate tubing where it passes through metal framing in fire-rated assemblies. It fits copper tube size tubing and seats in a 1-3/8 inch hole punched or drilled in metal studs or track. The insert provides a barrier between the tubing and the metal framing edge, reducing wear and acoustic transmission while maintaining fire-rated wall assembly integrity. Licensed plumbers and mechanical contractors install this insert during rough-in when routing tubing through light-gauge metal framing.
This insert is suited for residential and commercial construction where tubing must penetrate metal framing rated up to 14 gauge. It is compatible with copper, PEX, and CPVC tubing in fire-rated wall, floor, or ceiling assemblies. Typical applications include multi-family residential, hotels, and commercial tenant improvements where fire-rated framing is standard. The 406-R is installed at the framing stage before drywall close-in.
Designed for use with 1 inch copper tube size copper, PEX, or CPVC tubing passing through metal framing up to 14 gauge in fire-rated environments.
Installation is performed by a licensed plumber or mechanical contractor during the rough-in phase. Power tools should be used to drill or punch a 1-3/8 inch hole in the metal stud or track before snapping the insert in place. Verify that the insert is fully seated and that the tubing moves freely without contact with bare metal edges. Always confirm compliance with local fire-rated assembly requirements and applicable plumbing codes before close-in.
