The HILLMAN FASTENERS 461799 is a ring shank drywall nail designed for fastening gypsum wallboard to wood framing. The ring shank profile increases withdrawal resistance compared to smooth-shank nails, reducing nail pops over time. Each nail measures 1-5/8 inches in length, making it suited for standard 1/2-inch and 5/8-inch drywall applications. This pack contains 80 nails and is sold in a package quantity of 5. Drywall hangers, finish carpenters, and general contractors rely on this fastener where code or preference calls for nailed drywall attachment over screw-fastened assemblies.
Ring shank drywall nails are used in residential and light commercial construction for attaching wallboard panels to wood studs and ceiling joists. The 1-5/8-inch length provides adequate penetration into dimensional lumber framing while staying within the panel face. These nails are driven by hammer or pneumatic nailer compatible with the appropriate shank diameter. They are commonly specified on wood-framed interior wall and ceiling assemblies where mechanical fastening with nails is the preferred or required method.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement fastener for standard wood-framed drywall assemblies using ring shank nails in residential and light commercial construction.
Ring shank drywall nails are installed by licensed contractors or experienced drywall mechanics following local building codes and manufacturer guidelines. Drive nails flush to slightly dimpled without breaking the paper face of the wallboard. Fastener spacing should comply with applicable code requirements such as those referenced in the IRC or local jurisdiction standards. Do not overdrive nails, as breaking the gypsum core reduces holding strength.
