The HILLMAN FASTENERS 40902 is a hardened steel drywall screw designed for attaching drywall panels to wood or light-gauge steel framing. The flat bugle head sits flush with the drywall face without tearing the paper, while the fine thread provides firm bite in wood studs. A phosphate finish adds corrosion resistance suitable for interior applications. Each pack contains 100 screws, making it a standard supply quantity for residential and light commercial drywall work. This fastener is sized at No. 6 diameter and 1-1/4 inches in length, appropriate for single-layer half-inch or five-eighths-inch drywall installation.
These drywall screws are used in residential and light commercial construction and remodel applications. A No. 2 Phillips recess accepts standard dimpler bits used with drywall screw guns or variable-speed drills. Typical installs include attaching gypsum board to wood framing, ceiling drywall, and repair patches. The 1-1/4 inch length is well suited for single-layer drywall panels up to five-eighths inch thick fastened to wood framing.
Designed as a standard replacement drywall fastener for single-layer drywall installation over wood framing in residential and light commercial applications.
Installation is performed by carpenters, drywall hangers, and general contractors using a drywall screw gun or variable-speed drill fitted with a dimpler bit. Drive screws until the head is set just below the drywall surface without breaking through the face paper. Overdriving will compromise holding strength and require additional compound work. Follow applicable building codes for fastener spacing on walls and ceilings.
