The HERTEL MR34-0646.406 is a solid carbide chucking reamer designed for precision hole finishing in metalworking and machining applications. With a reamer diameter of 1.64 mm (0.0646 inches) and a four-flute spiral configuration, this tool delivers tight tolerances and a consistent surface finish in small-bore work. The bright, uncoated solid carbide construction provides rigidity and wear resistance suitable for demanding production environments. The straight shank allows direct chucking in standard collets or drill chucks. Diameter tolerance is held to 0.0000 to +0.0003 mm, making this reamer appropriate for close-fit bore work where dimensional accuracy is critical.
This reamer is suited for precision machining of small-diameter through-holes and blind holes in ferrous and non-ferrous metals, hardened steels, and engineering alloys. The 10 mm flute length and 50 mm overall length make it well-matched to CNC machining centers, manual mills, and drill presses where compact tooling is required. The left-hand spiral flute geometry with right-hand cutting direction helps pull chips away from the cutting edge during operation, reducing chip packing in tight bores. Machinists and toolroom technicians working with fine-tolerance components will find this reamer a reliable choice for production and repair work.
Designed as a standard chucking reamer for use in CNC machining centers, knee mills, and drill presses equipped with collet or drill chuck toolholding systems accepting straight-shank tooling in the applicable diameter range.
Chucking reamers should be installed and removed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and power is isolated before changing tooling. Secure the straight shank firmly in a collet or drill chuck to the manufacturer-recommended runout specifications for the toolholder in use. Use appropriate cutting fluid for the workpiece material and avoid hand-feeding at rates that exceed the tool-manufacturer-recommended chip load for small-diameter carbide reamers, as carbide is brittle and susceptible to breakage under side loading or impact.
