The HERTEL K033032AS is a spiral flute tap designed for cutting 3/4-10 UNC internal threads in a range of materials. Built from high speed steel (HSS) with an oxide finish, this plug-style tap features four flutes oriented in a right-hand spiral at a 45-degree helix angle. The spiral flute design evacuates chips upward and out of the hole, making it well-suited for through-hole and blind-hole tapping in ductile metals. At 4.25 inches overall length and weighing 1.94 pounds, it is sized for use in standard tap handles, CNC machining centers, and drill press setups. The H3 thread limit provides a controlled tolerance fit for most standard UNC fastener applications.
This tap is used in production and maintenance machining environments where 3/4-10 UNC threads are required. Typical applications include threading holes in steel, aluminum, cast iron, and similar machinable metals in both shop and field settings. The plug chamfer, with its moderate lead-in, suits through-hole tapping and is the most common tap type for general-purpose work. Machinists, toolmakers, and maintenance mechanics working in industrial, construction, and manufacturing settings will find this tap appropriate for both manual and machine tapping operations.
Designed as a standard 3/4-10 UNC spiral flute tap compatible with manual tap handles and machine tapping chucks sized for the corresponding tap shank. No coolant-through capability; intended for use with external cutting fluid application.
Tapping operations should be performed by a qualified machinist or maintenance mechanic familiar with thread-cutting procedures. Ensure the workpiece is securely fixtured and the tap is properly aligned to the pilot hole before beginning. Apply an appropriate cutting fluid for the workpiece material throughout the operation to extend tool life and improve thread finish. When using in a machine tapping setup, verify spindle speed and feed rate are suitable for the material and tap diameter before engaging the cut.
