The HERTEL K027775AS is a spiral point tap designed to cut metric coarse internal threads in a variety of workpiece materials. The spiral point geometry pushes chips forward ahead of the cutting edge, keeping the flutes clear and allowing continuous feed in through-hole applications. Built from high speed steel, this tap handles the heat and friction demands of production threading without the cost of carbide tooling. The right-hand, plug chamfer configuration provides a gradual lead-in that distributes cutting load across several leading threads, reducing the risk of tap breakage at entry. Three flutes provide a balance of chip clearance and core strength suitable for most general-purpose threading work.
This tap is suited to machine shop, toolroom, and maintenance environments where metric threaded holes are required in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The M14 x 2 thread form and 6H class of fit make it appropriate for standard metric fastener applications in automotive, industrial equipment, and structural assemblies. It is intended for use in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and tapping machines where controlled feed rates and rigid toolholding are available. The D7 thread limit designation indicates the ground thread tolerance band, which is commonly specified for general-purpose 6H tolerance class work.
Designed for cutting M14 x 2 metric coarse internal threads in through-hole applications on standard machining equipment. Confirm workpiece material, spindle speed, and feed rate compatibility before use.
This tap should be installed in a rigid tap holder or tapping chuck sized to the shank diameter to minimize runout. Ensure the spindle speed and feed rate are set to values appropriate for the workpiece material and tap diameter before starting the cut. Apply a suitable cutting fluid or tapping compound to extend tool life and improve thread finish. Inspect the tap for chipping or wear before each use, as a damaged tap can seize in the hole and damage the workpiece.
