The HERTEL K027765AS25 is a straight flute tap designed to cut M12x1.75 metric coarse internal threads in a variety of materials. Built from high-speed steel with a bright, uncoated finish, this tap offers a reliable combination of hardness and toughness suited to general-purpose tapping operations. The plug chamfer style provides a gradual thread lead-in, distributing cutting forces across several threads for controlled entry. With 4 flutes and a D6 thread limit, it is sized for 6H class of fit tolerances in right-hand threaded applications. Overall length is 3.375 inches. It is a standard tool for machine shops, maintenance facilities, and production environments.
This tap is used to produce M12x1.75 metric coarse threaded holes in ferrous and non-ferrous metals including steel, cast iron, and aluminum alloys under typical shop conditions. The plug chamfer makes it well suited for through-hole tapping and moderately deep blind holes where a starting tap or bottoming tap is not required. It is installed in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual tapping machines by machinists and tool-and-die professionals. Coolant-through capability is not supported, so conventional flood or mist coolant application at the workpiece is the standard approach.
Designed as an OEM-style straight flute tap for use in standard tapping chucks, drill press spindles, and CNC rigid tapping holders that accept the shank dimensions of this tool class.
This tap is installed and operated by qualified machinists following standard shop safety practices. The workpiece must be securely fixtured and the spindle speed set appropriately for the material and tap diameter before operation. Inspect the tap for chips or damage before each use and never force a tap that has stalled in a blind hole, as breakage may result. Use a suitable cutting fluid or tapping compound to reduce tool wear and improve thread finish.
