The HERTEL HTDCMX32505420C is a Polycrystalline Diamond (PCD) turning insert designed for precision machining applications requiring exceptional hardness and wear resistance. Carrying manufacturer grade HT420CD, this insert features a diamond shape (code D) with a 0.375 inch inscribed circle and a 0.0078 inch corner radius, making it well-suited for finishing and semi-finishing cuts where tight tolerances and surface finish quality are critical. The insert is uncoated, relying on the inherent properties of PCD substrate for cutting performance. At 0.156 inches thick and weighing 0.2 pounds, it is secured via screw-holding method and is installed by machinists and tooling professionals on CNC and manual turning equipment.
This insert is intended for turning operations on non-ferrous metals, composites, and abrasive materials where PCD tooling is the specified choice. The HT-DCMX insert style and chip breaker code X make it appropriate for light to medium stock removal passes. It is typically used in production turning environments, job shops, and precision machining operations where long tool life and consistent surface finish are required. The screw-clamp holding method ensures secure seating in compatible toolholders during high-speed turning passes.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-fit insert for toolholders accepting DCMX-style screw-clamp turning inserts with a 0.173 inch hole diameter and clearance code C.
This insert is installed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate torx or hex key to secure the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturer specification — do not overtighten. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before seating the insert to ensure proper contact and tool life.
