The HERTEL HTCNMX432420CD is a Polycrystalline Diamond (PCD) turning insert designed for high-precision single-point turning operations on CNC and manual lathes. Manufactured in the HT-CNMX insert style with a diamond-shaped cutting geometry (shape code C), this insert features a 0.5-inch inscribed circle and a 0.0313-inch corner radius. The HT420CD material grade delivers the hardness and wear resistance associated with PCD tooling, making it well suited for non-ferrous materials, composites, and abrasive workpieces. The insert is uncoated and held in place using a clamp-and-pin holding method. Machinists and tooling specialists handling production turning applications will find this insert sized and toleranced for consistent, repeatable results.
This insert is intended for use in turning applications where PCD tooling is specified — typically finish and semi-finish passes on aluminum alloys, copper, carbon fiber reinforced plastics, and other abrasive non-ferrous materials. The insert fits toolholders designed for the CNMX insert style with the corresponding clamp-and-pin retention system. It is appropriate for both high-volume production environments and precision job-shop turning work where tool life and surface finish are critical priorities.
Designed for use in toolholders accepting the CNMX insert style with clamp-and-pin retention, a 0.1340-inch hole diameter, and a 0.1875-inch insert thickness. Confirm toolholder specifications match insert size code 432 before installation.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Power down and lock out the machine before seating or replacing inserts. Ensure the toolholder pocket and clamp hardware are clean and free of chips or debris before positioning the insert. Do not exceed the cutting parameters recommended for PCD inserts on the workpiece material, as improper feeds and speeds will prematurely damage the cutting edge.
