The HERTEL H59875526 is a solid carbide boring insert designed for precision internal turning and boring operations on CNC and manual lathes. Manufactured to the TPCG320.5 insert style, it carries the HC620B grade designation and features a multilayer CVD coating sequence of TiN, TiC, TiCN, and TiN. This coating system provides wear resistance and thermal stability suited for machining steel and cast iron workpieces. The insert has a 60-degree triangular geometry with an 11-degree relief angle and a 0.007-inch corner radius. It is held in place by a screw-type clamping method and is designed for right-hand cutting orientation. Machinists and toolroom technicians install this insert into compatible TPCG-style boring bars.
This insert is suited for light to medium boring passes in ferrous materials where a C7 material grade carbide is appropriate. The 3/8-inch inscribed circle and 1/8-inch thickness place it in a compact format commonly used on smaller-diameter boring bars in production turning centers and manual engine lathes. It is sold individually but requires a minimum order quantity of 10 units. Typical applications include finish boring of housings, sleeves, and through-holes where consistent surface finish and dimensional accuracy are required.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement insert for TPCG-style boring bars and insert holders accepting a 3/8-inch inscribed circle triangular insert with screw-on clamping.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician with the machine powered down, spindle locked, and all motion axes disabled before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the correct Torx or hex key for the clamping screw as specified by the boring bar manufacturer and ensure the insert pocket is clean and free of chips before seating the insert. Never force an insert into a damaged or worn pocket. Verify tool offset and runout after each insert index before returning the machine to production.
