The HERTEL H59875179 is a solid carbide boring insert in the TD6P2 style, designed for precision internal boring operations on CNC and manual turning equipment. The insert features a 60-degree triangular geometry with an 11-degree relief angle and a 1/32-inch corner radius, making it suitable for controlled, repeatable cuts in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The HP520B grade carbide substrate carries a TiN coating applied via PVD process, which extends cutting edge life and reduces built-up edge at moderate cutting speeds. This insert is held in the toolholder by a screw-clamp method and is selected by machinists, tool-and-die technicians, and CNC operators for boring applications requiring tight tolerances.
This insert is appropriate for use in screw-lock boring bars and toolholders designed to accept the TD6P insert style. With a 3/8-inch inscribed circle and 1/8-inch thickness, it fits compact boring heads used in both production and repair-shop environments. The C5 material grade designation makes it well suited for general-purpose machining of cast iron, steel, and similar workpiece materials at medium cutting parameters. Applications include internal diameter finishing and light roughing passes on lathes and machining centers.
Designed for use in screw-lock toolholders and boring bars that accept the TD6P2 insert style with a 3/8-inch inscribed circle and 0.1300-inch hole diameter.
Insert installation and replacement should be performed with the machine fully powered down and the spindle locked. Use the correct torque wrench and manufacturer-specified insert screw to secure the insert in the pocket - overtightening the clamp screw can fracture carbide inserts. Inspect the insert pocket seat for chips or debris before seating a new insert. Worn or damaged inserts should be indexed or replaced before resuming cuts to avoid workpiece damage or toolholder failure.
