The HERTEL H59875054 is a solid carbide boring insert designed for precision internal turning and boring operations in metalworking applications. Manufactured to the TD6P1 insert style in grade HP520B, it features a 60-degree triangular shape with a physical vapor deposition (PVD) TiN coating for improved wear resistance and heat dissipation. The insert measures 3/8 inches inscribed circle and 1/8 inches thick, with a corner radius of 1/64 inches (0.0150 inches) and an 11-degree relief angle. It is secured with a screw-type holding method, making it compatible with standard TD6P toolholders. Licensed machinists and toolroom professionals install this insert in CNC boring bars and internal turning setups.
This insert is suited for finish and semi-finish boring of steel and cast iron workpieces where tight tolerances and consistent surface finish are required. The C5 material grade and TiN coating make it a practical choice for general-purpose machining at moderate cutting speeds. It is sold individually per package with a minimum order quantity of 10 units, making it appropriate for shop floor replenishment or toolcrib stocking. Typical applications include line boring, housing bores, and sleeve fitting operations in both production and job-shop environments.
Designed for use in screw-clamp TD6P-style boring bars and toolholders that accept a triangular insert with a 3/8-inch inscribed circle and 0.1300-inch hole diameter.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the machine is locked out before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the correct torque screwdriver or T-key specified by the toolholder manufacturer to seat the clamping screw - avoid overtightening, which can fracture the carbide. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before installing a fresh insert.
