The HERTEL H59875005 is a solid carbide boring insert designed for precision internal boring operations on CNC and manual turning equipment. Manufactured to the TD6P05 insert style designation and offered in the HT410B grade, this uncoated triangular insert is suited for machining cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and general-purpose workpiece materials in the C2 carbide grade range. Key cutting geometry includes a 60-degree included angle, an 0.007-inch corner radius for controlled edge definition, and an 11-degree relief angle that reduces rubbing on the bore wall. The insert measures 3/8 inch inscribed circle and 1/8 inch thick, fitting standard TD6P-style screw-lock boring bar pockets.
This insert is intended for use in boring bars and internal turning toolholders that accept the TD6P insert style with screw-type clamping. Typical applications include finish and semi-finish boring of through-holes and blind bores in production machining environments, job shops, and maintenance machine shops. The uncoated solid carbide construction makes it well suited for cutting aluminum, brass, bronze, and softer cast iron grades where coated grades may cause built-up edge. Machinists and toolroom technicians working with light to moderate chip loads at higher surface speeds will find this geometry appropriate for achieving tight bore tolerances.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement insert for toolholders and boring bars accepting the TD6P05 insert style with screw-type clamping, as specified by the TD6P insert style designation.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician with the machine powered down and the spindle fully stopped before changing inserts. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key driver to seat the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturer's specified procedure without over-torquing the screw. Verify insert seating and pocket cleanliness before resuming cutting operations. Follow applicable shop safety protocols and machine tool manufacturer guidelines for insert indexing and replacement.
