The HERTEL H59874990 is a solid carbide boring insert designed for precision internal turning and boring operations on CNC and manual lathes. It features a 60-degree triangular geometry (TD6P05 style) with an HC620B grade substrate and a multilayer CVD coating sequence of TiN, TiC, TiCN, and TiN. The 3/8-inch inscribed circle and 0.007-inch corner radius make this insert well-suited for finish and semi-finish boring passes where dimensional accuracy and surface finish are critical. A screw-on insert holding method provides secure clamping and repeatable indexing. Licensed machinists and CNC programmers working in job shop or production environments install and index these inserts as part of standard tooling maintenance.
This boring insert is intended for use in compatible boring bars and insert holders that accept the TD6P05 triangular insert style with a screw-on clamping method. It is appropriate for machining steel and cast iron workpiece materials consistent with the C7 carbide material grade designation. Typical applications include through-bore and blind-bore finishing on steel components where tight tolerances and repeatable results are required. The CVD multilayer coating provides wear resistance and thermal stability during cutting.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement insert for boring bar holders accepting TD6P05 triangular screw-on inserts with a 3/8-inch inscribed circle and 0.130-inch mounting hole diameter.
Insert indexing and replacement should be performed with the machine in a full lockout/tagout state with spindle power confirmed off. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key specified by the boring bar holder manufacturer to seat and torque the clamping screw - do not overtighten, as solid carbide inserts are brittle and can fracture under excess clamping force. Inspect the insert pocket and screw thread for debris or damage before seating a new insert. Always verify insert orientation and confirm the correct cutting edge is engaged before resuming operation.
