The HERTEL H59874974 is a cermet uncoated boring insert in a triangular 60-degree geometry, designed for precision internal boring operations on CNC lathes and machining centers. Manufactured to the TD6P01 insert style with an HT630B material grade, this insert features a 3/8-inch inscribed circle, a 0.002-inch corner radius, and an 11-degree relief angle. At 1/8 inch thick and weighing 0.03 pounds, it is sized for toolholders requiring a compact, rigid cutting edge. The cermet substrate delivers a balance of hardness and wear resistance suited to finishing and semi-finishing cuts on ferrous and non-ferrous workpieces. Screw-style insert holding provides secure, repeatable seating in compatible boring bars.
This insert is intended for use in precision boring applications where surface finish and dimensional accuracy are the primary requirements. Typical applications include finish boring of bores, holes, and cylindrical features on steel, cast iron, and similar materials at moderate to high cutting speeds. The uncoated cermet construction performs well in dry or light-cutting-fluid environments. Machinists and CNC operators in manufacturing, toolrooms, and job shops will find this insert appropriate for tight-tolerance internal diameter work. It is sold individually, with a minimum order quantity of 10 pieces.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement for boring toolholders accepting TD6P01-style triangular inserts with a 3/8-inch inscribed circle and screw-style clamping.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC toolroom technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key driver to seat the clamping screw - do not overtighten, as this can fracture the cermet insert body. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping screw for debris or wear before seating a new insert to ensure proper contact and runout.
