The HERTEL H59874966 is a solid carbide boring insert designed for precision internal turning and boring operations on CNC and manual lathes. Manufactured to the TD6P01 insert style in grade HT540B, this uncoated triangular insert features a 60-degree included angle, a 0.002-inch corner radius, and a 3/8-inch inscribed circle (IC). The 11-degree relief angle provides clearance to reduce rubbing during finish boring passes. At 0.127 inches thick and weighing 0.03 pounds, this insert seats securely via screw-hold clamping in compatible TD6P-style boring bars. It is suited for machinists and toolroom technicians working with ferrous and non-ferrous materials where uncoated carbide is preferred.
This insert is used in boring bar applications requiring a triangular, 60-degree geometry for tight-tolerance internal diameter work. The uncoated HT540B grade carbide is appropriate for applications where coating could affect dimensional consistency or where re-grinding is part of the shop workflow. Insert replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician with the machine powered down and all spindle motion fully stopped. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key to loosen the clamp screw, remove the spent insert, seat the new insert fully into the pocket, and torque the clamp screw to the boring bar manufacturer's specified value. Inspect the insert pocket and clamp for chips or debris before seating the new insert to avoid micro-fractures from uneven clamping. Index or replace all cutting edges before discarding the insert body.
