The HERTEL H59874792 is a cermet, uncoated boring insert designed for precision internal turning and boring operations on CNC and manual lathes. It features a 60-degree triangular shape with an inscribed circle of 0.25 inches, a thickness of 0.0960 inches, and a corner radius of 0.0150 inches (1/64 inches). The 11-degree relief angle reduces cutting friction and supports clean chip evacuation in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The cermet substrate, graded HT630B at material grade C8, delivers hardness and thermal resistance suited for finishing and semi-finishing cuts at higher surface speeds. Screw-style insert holding ensures repeatable positioning and secure clamping during operation.
This insert is intended for boring and internal turning applications where tight tolerances and fine surface finishes are required. It is commonly used in production machining environments, including automotive, aerospace, and general metalworking shops. The TPCH221 insert style fits compatible TPCH-style boring bars and toolholders. Machinists and CNC programmers working with cast iron, hardened steels, and similar materials will find the cermet grade appropriate for dry or minimal-coolant finishing passes. Minimum order quantity is 10 units; package quantity is 1.
Designed for use with TPCH-style insert toolholders and boring bars that accept TPCH221-geometry inserts with a screw-type clamping method.
Insert installation and replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Power down and lock out the machine before changing inserts. Use the correct torque screwdriver or insert wrench specified by the toolholder manufacturer to seat the screw clamp without over-tightening, which can crack the insert. Inspect the toolholder pocket and screw threads for damage or debris before seating the new insert.
