The HERTEL H59874198 is a solid carbide boring insert designed for precision internal turning and boring operations on CNC and manual lathes. Manufactured to the TPCB222 industry standard geometry, this insert features a 60-degree triangular shape with an 11-degree relief angle and a 1/32-inch corner radius, making it suited for finishing and semi-finishing passes in ferrous materials. The uncoated bright finish of the HT310B grade (material grade C25) allows close dimensional control and suits applications where coating interference is a concern. Installation is performed by screw clamping into a compatible TPCB-style boring bar holder.
This insert is used in boring bar assemblies for internal diameter machining on lathes and machining centers in metalworking shops, tool rooms, and production environments. The 1/4-inch inscribed circle and 3/32-inch thickness correspond to small-diameter boring applications requiring compact insert geometry. Machinists and CNC operators working with cast iron, steel, and similar ferrous workpieces will find the C25 carbide grade appropriate for moderate cutting speeds. Each package contains one insert; the minimum order quantity is 10 units.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-fit insert for TPCB-style boring bar holders accepting a 222-size triangular insert with a 1/4-inch inscribed circle and screw clamping.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator with the machine powered down and the spindle locked. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key specified by the boring bar manufacturer to seat the screw clamp; do not overtighten, as carbide inserts are brittle and can fracture under excessive clamping force. Confirm insert seating and edge condition before resuming cutting operations. Dispose of worn inserts per applicable shop safety procedures for carbide tooling.
