The HERTEL H59874016 is a solid carbide boring insert designed for precision internal boring operations on CNC and manual lathes. It features a triangular 60-degree included angle (TPCB style) with an 11-degree relief angle and a 0.007-inch corner radius, making it suited for tight-tolerance bore finishing and semi-finishing passes. The insert is uncoated bright carbide, grade HT310B (material grade C25), which is appropriate for applications where a base carbide edge is preferred over a coated alternative. Machinists and toolroom technicians install this insert into compatible TPCB-style boring bar holders using the screw-clamp holding method.
This insert is used in internal boring operations on ferrous and non-ferrous workpieces where a 1/4-inch inscribed circle (IC) triangular insert geometry is required. The small IC size makes it appropriate for boring smaller-diameter bores. It is typically found in production machining, toolroom work, and maintenance machining environments. The screw-clamp holding method suits boring bars with a top-clamping screw designed for TPCB-style inserts. The 0.0960-inch thickness provides rigidity appropriate for the insert class.

This insert is installed by qualified machinists or toolroom technicians. Power down and lock out the machine before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the correct torque wrench and insert screw to seat the insert fully without over-torquing the clamping screw, which can fracture the carbide. Inspect the insert pocket and screw for wear or damage before installing a new insert.
