The HERTEL H59874008 is a solid carbide boring insert designed for precision internal turning and boring operations on CNC and manual lathes. Built to insert style TPCB with a 60-degree triangular shape, this insert features a 1/4-inch inscribed circle, a 0.007-inch corner radius, and an 11-degree relief angle. The 3/32-inch thickness measures 0.0960 inches in decimal form. A multilayer CVD coating sequence of TiN, TiC, TiCN, and TiN improves wear resistance and extends tool life in a range of ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The manufacturer grade is HC620B, which corresponds to a C7 material grade. Machining professionals and toolroom operators install this insert in screw-held boring bar toolholders.
This insert suits precision boring applications where tight tolerances and a fine surface finish are required. It is appropriate for use on CNC turning centers and conventional lathes in job shops, production machining facilities, and toolrooms. The 60-degree triangular geometry and 11-degree relief angle make it well-suited for internal diameter finishing and light roughing passes on steel and cast iron. The screw-clamping holding method ensures positive insert location and repeatable edge indexing across multiple insert changes.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-fit insert for TPCB-style boring bar toolholders accepting a 1/4-inch inscribed circle triangular insert with screw clamping.
This insert is installed by machining professionals using standard insert-mounting torx or hex keys appropriate for the toolholder screw size. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Inspect the toolholder pocket and clamping screw for wear or debris before seating the insert. Follow the toolholder manufacturer specifications for clamping torque to avoid insert cracking or seat damage.
