The HERTEL H59873471 is a solid carbide boring insert designed for precision internal boring operations on CNC and manual turning equipment. Manufactured to TDHB insert style standards with an HT310B grade designation, this uncoated triangular insert features a 60-degree included angle, a 5/32 inch (0.1563 inch) inscribed circle, and a 3/64 inch (0.0469 inch) thickness. The 15-degree relief angle reduces cutting forces and tool pressure in tight-bore applications. Installation is by screw-clamp holding method, making it compatible with standard TDHB-style boring bar pockets. This insert is intended for use by machinists and tool-and-die professionals working in production or job-shop environments.
This insert is suited for finish and semi-finish boring of steel and ferrous materials, consistent with its C25 carbide material grade. The uncoated solid carbide construction makes it a practical choice for applications where coating buildup or thermal delamination is a concern, such as interrupted cuts or short-run precision work. The 1/64 inch (0.0150 inch) corner radius supports tight-tolerance surface finish requirements in smaller bore diameters. Typical applications include internal diameter boring on lathes and machining centers where TDHB-style insert geometry is specified.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement for TDHB-style boring insert pockets requiring a 60-degree triangle insert with a 5/32 inch inscribed circle and screw-clamp retention. Insert size code 1.280.751 should be confirmed against the boring bar or toolholder specification before ordering.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following the toolholder manufacturer's insert seating and torque procedures for screw-clamp TDHB-style pockets. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the toolholder is secured before changing inserts. Inspect the insert pocket seat and clamp screw for wear or debris before seating the new insert. Dispose of spent carbide inserts per applicable shop waste handling procedures.
