The HERTEL H59873463 is a solid carbide boring insert designed for precision internal boring operations on CNC lathes and machining centers. It features a triangular shape with a 60-degree included angle, a 5/32-inch (0.1563-inch) inscribed circle, and a 3/64-inch (0.0469-inch) thickness. The insert is produced via CVD coating and carries a multilayer TiN, TiC, TiCN, TiN finish under the manufacturer grade HC620B, corresponding to material grade C7. The 15-degree relief angle and 1/64-inch (0.0150-inch) corner radius make this insert suited for finishing and semi-finishing passes where tight tolerances and surface finish are critical. Installation uses a screw-holding method.
This insert is intended for use in screw-clamp boring bars and toolholders that accept TDHB-style triangular inserts with the size code 1.280.751. Typical applications include internal diameter boring of ferrous metals, cast iron, and hardened steels in production turning environments. The C7 carbide grade and CVD multilayer coating provide good wear resistance for continuous and light interrupted cuts at moderate to high cutting speeds. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals working on close-tolerance bore finishing will find the geometry and coating combination appropriate for those demands.
Designed for toolholders and boring bars that accept TDHB insert style with size code 1.280.751 and a 5/32-inch inscribed circle. Verify holder specifications against insert dimensions before installation.
Insert installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician using the appropriate Torx or hex key for the clamping screw. Power down and lock out the spindle before changing inserts. Ensure the insert pocket and seating surface are clean and free of chips before seating the insert to maintain accurate tool geometry. Follow the toolholder manufacturer's clamping torque guidelines for TDHB-style screw-clamp holders.
